Welcome To Hell’s Kitchen

Daredevil (also known as Matthew Murdock) was created by Stan Lee and Bill Everett, first appearing in Daredevil #1 in 1964. The character is best recognised for his devil-like appearance, commonly wearing a red suit with horns, and his extraordinary sensory abilities.

As a child, Murdock gained his powers while rescuing a man from an oncoming truck. However, this truck also happened to be carrying radioactive chemicals. Blinded by the spillage, Murdock found that his other senses were enhanced, giving him a sort of “radar sense”.

His father, Jack Murdock, was subsequently killed by gangsters after refusing to throw a boxing match. Now an orphan, Matt started training in martial arts with a blind man called Stick and eventually went on to become a lawyer alongside his friend Franklin “Foggy” Nelson. Using his powers and skills, Matt donned the Daredevil outfit to combat criminals on the streets of Hell’s Kitchen. His crime-fighting activities have brought him into the crosshairs of various villains, including Bullseye and the Kingpin.

Writer/artist Frank Miller helped establish Daredevil as one of Marvel’s most popular superheroes in the 1980s, crafting some of the character’s most popular stories — such as “Born Again” and Daredevil: The Man Without Fear.
