Released in 2021 on the Disney+ streaming service, Marvel’s What If...? is an animated TV series that explores the MCU multiverse. Throughout the course of nine episodes, the Watcher (voiced by Jeffrey Wright) introduces audiences to universes where a slight deviation from the path altered the outcome of events. These alterations can be substantial or minor, ranging from the death of a beloved hero to the outbreak of an interdimensional virus.

Some of the concepts explored include “What If… Captain Carter Were The First Avenger?”, “What If T’Challa Became A Star-Lord?”, “What If… The World Lost Its Mightiest Heroes?”, “What If Doctor Strange Lost His Heart Instead Of His Hands?”, “What If… Zombies?!”, “What If Killmonger Rescued Tony Stark?”, and more. Without any long-lasting consequences, these episodes allow the creator (A.C. Bradley) to dramatically alter character’s destinies, manipulating their fates for better or worse.

The show features a number of returning characters, many of whom are voiced by their original actors: Steve Rogers/Captain America/Hydra Stomper (Josh Keaton), Tony Stark/Iron Man (Mick Wingert), T’Challa/Black Panther/Star-Lord (Chadwick Boseman), Peggy Carter/Captain Carter (Hayley Atwell), Nick Fury (Samuel L.
