Ian’s early life was all about sport. As a physical education teacher, he taught and coached in the United Kingdom, France, Spain, and Canada in sports ranging from soccer to shooting, archery, and abseiling. During time with mountain rescue in Wales and as a personal trainer in London, Ian worked closely with Elite Sporting and the Olympic team.
Ian returned home and became an organisational consultant, which saw him work throughout Australia, Botswana, Lesotho, Malaysia, and India.
As the owner and principal trainer of Candor Training and Consultancy, he now trains and coaches managers and leaders in Australia and internationally, including India, Denmark, Mongolia, China, and Vietnam. Ian specialises in assisting leadership groups to develop sustainable high-performing teams.
In addition to his leadership work, he continues to be a highly regarded performance coach for business owners and members of professional sporting teams throughout Australia. Clients include Rio Tinto, BHP Billiton, Mearsk Oil and Gas, Barrick Gold, Vietnam Oil, Downer EDI, Woodside, Orica, the federal government, state governments, local governments, Xstrata, and the Australian Sports Commission.
Recently, Candor Training and Consultancy received a 100 Most Influential Businesses award. Ian is a contributing author for Australia’s leading leadership magazine, CEO.
Ian is also contracted as Rio Tinto Global Master Facilitator, where he is solely responsible for training and accrediting trainers worldwide.
