Robert Middleton

I’ve been a self-employed marketing coach for 34 years. I work with all kinds of self-employed people such as coaches, consultants, trainers, etc who are looking for ways to find more of their ideal clients. I got started after doing a career development workshop in 1983 and figured out that I was a good teacher. So I started teaching small business owners how to get organized. After a few years that transitioned into helping them with their marketing.

I got online in 1996 and started writing a weekly email newsletter in 1997 that now reaches 25,000 people. Then I wrote an online bestseller, “The InforGuru Marketing Manual” in 1999. That manual launched a whole new industry – of helping self-employed people with their marketing. It also spawned a few thousand competitors! I’ve worked with thousands of people – individuals and groups and conducted workshops and online programs. I currently run a membership website called “The More Clients Club.”

My philosophy is that anyone can be successfully self-employed as long as they learn how to attract great clients to their business. I am allergic to any kind of hype or B.S. in marketing and believe it’s essential to offer real value and communicate in your authentic voice.

I’ve been involved in personal growth since I was a teenager and have read hundreds of books in the field. My favourites include Loving What Is by Byron Katie and The Way of Freedom by Salvadore Poe.

I live in Boulder Creek, CA which is between Santa Cruz, on the coast and Silicon Valley. I live in a redwood forest with a river in my backyard and conduct my business via the Internet, email and Zoom video. I’m originally from Canada and grew up on Canadian air force bases around the world. My father was an air force officer.
